As a non financial professional, I was fascinated by the story of Bear Stearn’s demise and was stunned with the speed at which something like this could happen. As well, it is unfathomable that financiers at this level could have been so paralyzed and literally didn’t know what to do. While interesting, the book was an exhausting read as the author’s unnecessary detail and over emphasis on quoting dialogue frequently bogged me down. However, the book does help the lay person to better understand the financial industry and certainly presented some lessons for businesses and individuals alike with respect to excessive risk and leverage. |
