“Webinar” is short for Web-based seminar.

A webinar is a presentation, workshop or seminar that is attended online. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements -- the ability for a presenter to present, as well as the ability for audience members to chat amongst themselves and ask the presenter questions.

In short, attending a webinar is similar to attending a workshop, only you can do so from the comfort of your office, home or anywhere else that is convenient.

Webinars typically include lower costs for the audience due to lower overheard (no meeting room) and the elimination of travel costs. The interactive nature of a Webinars coupled with their sheer convenience and time savings has helped them become a huge growing trend within the business world.

When you attend a Webinar, the speaker's presentation will appear on your screen, as well as his/her live audio dialogue and whatever appears on his/her screen (ex. demos, video etc). There is also a chat window generally to the right of the presentation.
